MIJAS AQUA PARK
As the warm spring sunshine makes life – and holidays – on the Costa del Sol so much more enjoyable, the improved temperatures also signal another key development for tourism on the coast – the opening of the Parque Acuatico, Mijas.
Better known simply as the ‘aqua park’, the Parque Acuatico Mijas opens on April 28th and is a great place to go for a fun day out with the family – without a grain of sand anywhere in sight! Better still, it’s very easy to reach, just a few minutes away from the CLC Club La Costa World resort by car, taxi or even on foot.
A great range of attractions includes the Rio Bravo and Rio Aventura for adventure river rides on inflatable tubes; the Body Ski where you can race the kids down adjacent wet and very slippery slopes with a few surprises in store; the Labyrinth Slides with their swirling, twirling downhill thrills and spills and the Waves Pool where you can swim and dive through powerful artificial breakers. And, if you’re really up for it, there’s the 15m climb to the Kamikaze platform, from where only the bravest take the park’s steepest, fastest plunge back down into the blue!
For those who might prefer a simple, quiet swim, there is a separate pool set aside – but why would you, when there’s so much going on all around?
This year, the park’s special area for small children – LizardIsland – has also been updated with new slides and fountains for the little ones, who will be like ‘ducks to water’ as they enjoy some extra climbing and splashing with their watery fun.
While the kids are safely having fun on the slides and rides – supervision is very good throughout the park – mums and dads can lie back and relax in the sun on a hammock or a deck chair, or there’s a mini-golf course for those who fancy some fun while staying dry!
Whether you decide to pack a picnic or choose a family treat from the restaurant, you’re guaranteed to have plenty of fun on your day out at the aqua park. And the kids will certainly sleep well after all the exertion and excitement…
