Project Description

With over 70 stunning golf courses, the Costa del Sol is one of the world’s top golfing destinations.

Boasting 325 average days of sunshine each year, the ‘Sunny Coast’ offers a choice of courses for golfers of all abilities, from beginners to professionals. Most courses are easily accessible and located within an hour’s drive of CLC Club La Costa World.

The Costa del Sol became known as the ‘Costa del Golf’ after the Ryder Cup was hosted at Valderrama in 1997. The coast remains home to three of Europe’s top courses, including Real Valderrama in Sotogrande, Finca Cortesin in Casares and Real Las Brisas in Marbella.

Every year, thousands of golfers shake off the winter blues in northern Europe and head for the sunshine of southern Spain. High season for golf here is from late September through to early May, when temperatures are ideal for playing.

The heat of the Spanish summer makes golf less popular during the warmer months. Courses are generally quieter although golfers can take advantage of reduced green fees and special discounts during ‘earlybird’ or ‘twilight’ rounds.

Some of coast’s longest established golf courses are very close to CLC Club La Costa World and many visitors play the same course two or even three times during their stay.

The closest 18-hole courses, listed in terms of their approximate distances to and from CLC Club La Costa World, are at El Chapparal, Miraflores, Cala Nova, Cabopino, Santa Clara, Santa Maria, Santana, Parador de Golf, Alhaurin, Lauro and Los Naranjos.

For golfers who prefer a ‘quick-fix,’ a choice of 9-hole courses are also located within easy reach of CLC Club La Costa World, at Cerrado del Aguila Golf and Resort and La Noria Golf in La Cala de Mijas.

The ‘wow factor’ golf courses offer a wide range of additional facilities, including: golf schools, club hire, club houses, shops, driving ranges and putting greens. Some courses are flatter than others, including nearby Mijas Golf, but buggy hire is always available.

If you are planning to play golf during your holiday, book tee times in advance to avoid disappointment, whether for groups, pairs or individual players.

With blue skies all year, palm trees surrounding the greens and the Mediterranean Sea forming the backdrop to your drives, the Costa del Sol is one of the best golfing destinations in Europe.

Enquire at the reception of CLC Club La Costa World for more information about Costa del Sol golf courses, tee times and exclusive member discounts.
