Stars gather to support UK’s unpaid carers
Featuring the acclaimed City of London Choir, who were joined by a carers choir from Northamptonshire Carers, international trumpeter Crispian Steele-Perkins and the renowned, award-winning actors Emma Thompson, Greg Wise and David Suchet, the Carers Trust Christmas Carol Concert offered a glittering start to the festive season.
The concert was held in aid of the Carers Trust’s work to support unpaid carers right across the UK. To get into the festive mood, many of the guests enjoyed a pre-concert drinks reception in the impressive surroundings of The Westbury Mayfair hotel.
Greg Wise and David Suchet gave magical readings of Dylan Thomas’ ‘A Child’s Christmas in Wales’ and ‘King John’s Christmas’ by A.A. Milne.
Jaycee Labouche, a carer from Wandsworth, read her own poem, Unconditionally, describing the pressures she has to face every day as a carer for her 90-year-old father.
Renowned BBC Presenter, Andrew Marr, rounded off the concert with an appeal on behalf of Carers Trust.
CLC World’s UK Managing Director, Graham Wilding, said: “CLC World Resorts & Hotels was honoured once again to sponsor the Carers Trust Christmas Carol Concert. A great evening was had by all as we raised funds for Carers Trust to enable them to continue their work supporting 500,000 of the UK’s 7 million unpaid carers and help them extend that assistance even further.”
