Foundation a lasting tribute to life of Delaine
Nine-year-old Delaine Mukopfa from Leicester was an accomplished, lively youngster who was an active member of his church, a keen footballer and loved by all who knew him.
He died last January after a very short illness and his parents, CLC World members Chris and Netsai Mukopfa drew comfort from family, friends and their Catholic faith.
Their tragic loss led to Chris and Netsai deciding to channel their grief into setting up a foundation that would be a lasting memorial to their boy and help youngsters aged five to 20 from disadvantaged economic and social backgrounds in the UK and Zimbabwe.
Family and friends gathered this January at a memorial service led by four priests to mark the first anniversary of Delaine’s death and later supported a fund raising event in the church hall for the Delaine Takunda Mukopfa Foundation.
It was CLC World’s privilege to support the Foundation by donating a voucher for a week of holiday accommodation which raised £700 at auction pledged by the Mhunduru family and we look forward to welcoming them to the resort of their choice.
In addition £1121.85 was raised through the sale of food and a raffle of donated hampers.
Chris said: “The fundraising event was a great success and we appreciate the support for the Foundation from CLC World. It made a big contribution to the success of the event and we send our thanks.”
