Are you looking forward to a trip to Orlando? The top-trending US destination has great new theme park rides, exciting restaurants and, of course, increased health and sanitisation measures in place. The best self-catering, resort accommodation is at CLC World’s Orlando resorts: CLC Regal Oaks and CLC Encantada.
Let’s take a look at what’s new in Orlando.
At the theme parks
50 years of Walt Disney World Resort®
“The World’s Most Magical Celebration” — a 50th anniversary gala – is set to kick off on October 1, 2021.
Walt Disney World has coined a new word — “EARidescence” — to describe what you’ll see when you visit. As well as golden bunting and a 50th anniversary crest at Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom® Park, there will be special night-time magic as theme park icons transform into Beacons of Magic at all four Disney parks’ icons.
Be one of the first to enjoy the thrills of the new ride Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure (see below). And it’s not just the Magic Kingdom where the fun is at, all four Disney theme parks are taking part in the festivities.
Jurassic World VelociCoaster
Coming to Universal’s Islands of Adventure at Universal Orlando Resort on June 10, 2021, this monster of a ride has more than 4,700 feet of track. Roaring along at up to 70mph and more than 150 feet in the air, you’ll be rising Florida’s longest and tallest launch coaster.
There are including two pulse-pounding launches: a one-of-a-kind, 360-degree barrel roll; a zero-gravity inverted stall; and going airborne during the towering “Top Hat,” propelling you 155 feet in the air before an 80-degree drop.
SeaWorld Orlando’s first launch coaster should open in 2021. Featuring four airtime-filled launches, both backwards and forwards, the ride culminates in a reverse launch into the steepest beyond-vertical drop in Florida… a 93-foot-tall spike with a 100-degree angle! Hold onto your tummies!
The Bourne Stuntacular
In 2020, Universal Studios Florida debuted this live-action stunt show based on the blockbuster Bourne film franchise. Using a mix of stage magic and cinema, the edge-of-your-seat experience follows Jason Bourne around the globe as he’s pursued by baddies.
Florida’s first-ever duelling waterslide is now open at Aquatica Orlando. Race your mother or friend side-by-side at top speeds. Navigate tight loops and accelerations on nearly 650 feet of slides.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
“Feel the force” when you ride aboard a Resistance transporter that is then captured by an Imperial Star Destroyer. There’s lots of action when you visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Joined the beloved mouse duo in their own ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. An immersive 3-D adventure, you can join Mickey and Minnie in their animated film world.
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
Everyone’s favourite chef is cooking up something really big for Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT has its grand opening on October 1 of this year — coinciding with the anniversary. Scurry through Gusteau’s famous restaurant on a family adventure and into Paris in the new section of the Pavilion.
