Sun lotion at the ready…
Weekend Beach Festival, July 4th – 7th
If your personal music collection is a real eclectic mishmash of everything from reggae to hip-hop to indie, Weekend Beach Festival is the one for you. This festival has built up a reputation for variety and consistently attracts world-class artists every year. As the name suggests, the festival ground is situated on one of the region’s many spectacular beaches, Playa de Torre del Mar, less than an hour from CLC’s resorts on the Costa del Sol. This year, it’s celebrating its fifth anniversary and festival organisers have promised it’ll be bigger and better than ever, with performances to satisfy all tastes. Headliners scheduled to appear include David Guetta, The Offspring, Bunbury and Jimmy Cliff.
Ojeando Festival, July 13th – 14th
The charming whitewashed walls and maze-like streets of the pretty Andalucían town of Ojén become an indie pop-rock lover’s dream on a weekend in mid-July when the Ojeando festival comes to town. Located inland from Marbella and a mere half hour from CLC World Costa del Sol, more than 40 acts from both Spain and around the world will perform, including Lori Meyers, Carlos Sadness and Rufus T Firefly. Its location in the centre of this traditional town gives it a unique personality and electric atmosphere, and since there are only three main stages, there’s little chance of missing your favourite acts.
Los Álamos Beach, August 1st – 5th
Located in coastal Estepona, 40 mins from CLC World’s resorts on the Costa del Sol, music fans will descend on Los Álamos Beach Festival for the fourth year running for five days of live acts, including international names like Armin van Buuren, Steve Angello, Fedde le Grand and Danny Avila. This festival is a guaranteed treat for trance and dance lovers everywhere who want to soak up the vibe in a stunning location. This year, the festival has changed location from Los Álamos beach in Torremolinos to the Estepona Fairground to allow for extra admittance and more stages.
Starlite Festival, July 11th – August 25th
This self-styled ‘boutique’ festival takes place in the famous Nagüeles Quarry, just 3.5km from the centre of Marbella and boasts 50 days of concerts, culture and gastronomy. It takes place every year and has become the largest charity event in Spain, according to its organisers. The stage is surrounded by 60 metre-high rocks walls creating a unique ambience for both performers and the audience. The acts already lined up to perform include Sting, James Blunt, Jamiroquai, the Pet Shop Boys, David Bispal and legendary evergreen French crooner, Charles Aznavour, who’s still belting it out at 94!
