Tenerife

Golf Las Americas

Tenerife is a golfers’ paradise thanks to an average yearly temperature of 23°C. Home to excellent golf courses and offering a variety of challenges and spectacular ocean views, it’s time to dust off the clubs and head to the Canary Islands.

Some of the top courses are within easy reach of CLC World Tenerife resorts and include:

GOLF LAS AMÉRICAS – an outstanding course in the heart of Playa de Las Americas, designed by John Jacobs. A joy to play, except in windy conditions, when the water obstacles present a far more serious challenge. Championship 18 hole par 72 course

GOLF COSTA ADEJE – Designed by the internationally recognised Spanish architect José Gancedo, this 27 hole course opened in 1998. The course is challenging but fair. Players enjoy amazing views over to La Gomera and large, fast greens that are challenging to read. 18 hole par 72 course

GOLF DEL SUR – Close to CLC Sunningdale Village, the 27 hole project with three 9-hole courses was designed by José Gancedo and Manuel Piñero. In all playable combinations, the courses add up to Par 72. It has been the venue for international PGA tournaments with an undulating course of wide fairways and elevated greens.

 

Costa del Sol

Golf Aloha

One of Europe’s premier golfing destinations, the Costa del Sol is home to a plethora of championship courses. Boasting a Ryder Cup course, multiple Spanish Open hosts and a World Matchplay Course, the 300+ days of year round sunshine make it an all-season golf retreat.

VALDERRAMA – Designed by Robert Trent Jones Snr, who is arguably one of the best golf course architects ever, the course has hosted both the prestigious Spanish Masters and the 1997 Ryder Cup. Set inland, the course winds its way through trees and lakes. Despite being one of the more difficult courses in the Costa del Sol, there is a variety of different tees which make the course accessible for golfers of all skill levels.

EL CHAPARRAL – Only minutes from CLC World’s Costa del Sol resorts, the course is renowned for each hole being unique. El Chaparral stands out from other venues in the area as the layout is comprised of 6 par 3s, 6 par 4s and 6 par 5s, making it a very enjoyable course to play for golfers of all abilities.

ALOHA – Aloha Golf Club treats guests to incredible views of Marbella and Puerto Banus. Its proximity to these buzzing towns make it a great place to enjoy a round of golf in the day and party long into the night. The course has hosted three PGA Tour events and winds through trees, mountains and lakes. 18 hole, par 72 course

Kusadasi Golf & Spa

Year-round sunshine, Long stretches of beach, championship golf courses – Turkey is the unsung hero of European golf getaways. Some of the game’s greatest designers and players have created incredible golf courses, most of which have been sympathetically merged with the magnificent natural landscape.

KUSADASI GOLF & SPA – The par-72 championship course at Kusadasi International Golf follows the undulating contours of the natural terrain, overlooking a national park. Bermuda grass fairways flow gently between mixed stands of 50-year-old pine, plane and olive trees in a mature Mediterranean forest setting. Measuring a challenging 6322m from the white tees, the course layout features lakes, numerous water hazards and dozens of bunkers, adding extra spice to the golfing test.

MONTGOMERIE MAXX ROYAL – In the Antalya region is Belek, the new home of golf. Europe’s 2010 Ryder Cup Winning Captain Colin Montgomerie was the curator of one of Belek’s premier golfing destination. Its unusual layout of 6 par 3s, 6 par 4s and 6 par 5s makes it a truly unique golfing experience with holes featuring dramatic bunkers and inviting lakes.

TITANIC GOLF CLUB – Home to a wonderful 27 hole setup designed by the world famous Hawtree Association. The course offers magnificent views of the dramatic Taurus Mountain range and the Mediterranean Sea. The second nine skirts its way along the seafront providing players with a UK links feel, except in Turkey it is a warm wind.

 

UK

Gleneagles

Arguably, some of the best golf holidays are had in the UK. There’s nothing more testing than a Championship links course on the wild south-western coastline of England. The dramatic terrain of Scotland, the home of golf, was designed to create challenging and beautiful courses, while attractive parkland courses are a great way to boost the morale of golfers of all abilities.

GLENEAGLES – Gleneagles is famous the world over and was recent host of The Ryder and Solheim Cups. Their beautiful golf courses set in the gorgeous Perthshire countryside, are as much fun for novices to play as they are for the pros. CLC Duchally Country Estate is only minutes from this renowned golf destination, with hotel and lodge accommodation it’s a great base for a golfing holiday.

CHESTER-LE-STREET – The course is virtually flat with four minor inclines creating uphill and downhill fairways. Individual trees and copses are attractive and double as a course hazard necessitating accurate driving to find the green more easily on the second shot. All greens are comparatively large giving golfers of all handicaps a hope of achieving a good score. CLC World’s Club Resort Lumley Castle is less than 2 miles from the course.

TREVOSE GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB – 3 miles from Padstow in Cornwall, the Trevose Golf Club has a Championship links course which leads to exhilarating golf especially when the wind is up. There are four teeing areas to choose from but this technically challenging course will test the best of golfers. A 9-hole course design by Peter Allis serves as a warm up to the Championship course. CLC Trenython Manor has 39 golf courses within an hour’s drive and at just 28 miles away Trevose GC also enjoys a scenic route to the tee.

ORANGE COUNTY NATIONAL – Orange County National features the Panther Lake and Crooked Cat courses for 36 holes of championship golf surrounded by nature in a tranquil setting.  Orlando County National Golf Club has played host to multiple PGA TOUR Qualifying School Finals.  As well as 36 holes of championship golf, OCN has a 9 hole short course and 360 degree driving range.  Orange County National has earned recognition as the Best Public Golf Course in Orlando 2020. The course is only 9 miles from CLC Encantada resort with its spacious townhouses set in secure grounds.

CELEBRATION GOLF CLUB – The course, designed by father and son team Robert Trent Jones Sr and Jr, is a scenic wonder framed by borders of native trees and natural wetlands and dotted with clusters of native oaks, pine and magnolia trees. With impeccable playing conditions, Celebration is widely recognised as one of the top Orlando golf courses annually.  CLC World’s Orlando resorts are both within 10 miles of the course.

FALCONS FIRE – Designed by Rees Jones, Falcon’s Fire Golf Club features a blend of modern and classic architecture. Voted one of Orlando’s top golf courses, Falcons Fire Golf Club has white sand bunkers, grass mounding and natural water hazards.
