Project Description

Make your family’s holiday dreams come true at Walt Disney World® Resort in Orlando.

Still firmly at the top of the list for almost every holidaymaker coming to Orlando, Walt Disney World® is the original and probably still the best of all the theme parks for all round family entertainment.

A trip to ‘Disney World’ – as it is often called – is perfect for every age and every preference, and no-one, young or old, who has been there will ever forget the day they set foot inside the Magic Kingdom and saw Cinderella’s Castle for the first time.

Better still, the Walt Disney World® Resort is only a short drive away from your holiday accommodation at CLC Encantada, so you don’t waste any time travelling – it’s all about having fun!

The Resort, which covers a total area of over 39 square miles – roughly the size of Manchester – comprises 4 separate theme park attractions: Magic Kingdom®Epcot®Animal Kingdom® and Disney’s Hollywood Studios® and between them they employ some 62,000 people – known as ‘cast’ members – ready to make the ‘magic’ happen for real.

Since the opening of Magic Kingdom® as long ago as 1971, the four main parks have all continued to grow and develop in line with modern holiday demands and tastes. The Resort has also added three smaller parks, along with two superb water parks, Disney’s Wide World of Sports complex and the ever-expanding retail and leisure area at Downtown Disney, and has become the quintessential family holiday destination.

Magic Kingdom®

Magic Kingdom – the first of the four major Walt Disney World theme parks to be opened in Orlando – is actually a collection of seven very different and enchantingly themed ‘lands’, all of which are built around the central focal point of Cinderella’s Castle. All of the many thrill rides, carousels and attractions feature the elements of ‘wonder, fantasy and fun’, with many having become household names, including Main Street USA, Liberty Square, Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland and Mickey’s Toontown Fair.

Favourites: Space Mountain; Splash Mountain; Big Thunder Mountain Railroad; Pirates of the Caribbean and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin.

Epcot actually stands for ‘Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow’ and it’s a theme park that originally set out to showcase a brave, new world filled with the latest advances in science and technology and to celebrate the many triumphs of the human spirit. In ‘Futureworld’, visitors get to see that same vision of the future – now! – and in ‘World Showcase’ they can travel ‘around the world’, sampling the sights, sounds and tastes of countries such as Norway, Mexico, China, Canada, Germany, Italy, the United States, Morocco, Japan, France and the United Kingdom. Every day brings an exciting programme of live shows and interactive events, while the nightly fireworks display over the lake is a highlight of every Epcot experience.

Favourites: Spaceship Earth; Test Track; Mission: SPACE; Turtle Talk with Crush; Innoventions and Soarin’.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios®

As a reminder to everyone of the former glory days of the movies and the power of the ‘studio system’, Disney’s Hollywood Studios recreates the all-round excitement and showbiz glamour of the entertainment business. With live, Broadway-style shows; film, TV and radio productions in studios where you can actually be a ‘star’ for the day, and the usual thrill rides and attractions, this is a Disney theme park that guarantees world-class entertainment every day of the year.

Favourites: Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster; The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™; Lights, Motors, Action! – Extreme Stunt Show; Voyage of the Little Mermaid; Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular and Toy Story Mania!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom®

Walt Disney had a very personal interest in wildlife and nature, and his vision was to create a theme park that would showcase the natural world, while at the same time contributing to its upkeep and survival. Animal Kingdom is so much more than a traditional ‘zoo’ and through dedicated work in field research and international education, it has become a world authority and leader in the field of animal welfare. The 500 acre park – the largest in the world – is home to more than 1,700 animals and features 250 different species, many of which are observed from realistic safari-style vehicles that explore different wildlife terrains and habitats.

Favourites: Expedition Everest; Finding Nemo – The Musical; Festival of the Lion King; DINOSAUR; Kilimanjaro Safaris and It’s tough to be a bug!

And there’s even more on offer at the Walt Disney World Resort

Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are the two amazing water parks that are an integral part of the Walt Disney World Resort. Though neither is anywhere near as big as any of their theme park neighbours, they are an equally important – and highly enjoyable – part of the Disney holiday experience in Orlando.

High up on most people’s holiday hit lists – alongside theme park fun – are shopping, dining and entertainment, which is where Downtown Disney comes in! On a huge 120 acre site, the ‘lakeside town’ concept offers the very best in quality dining options for all the family, set alongside a great choice of shops and accompanied by live entertainment – including a Cirque du Soleil theatre – and music every evening. It’s a wonderful place to chill out and relax after a busy day in the theme parks and features, of course, an enormous World of Disney store, as well as the Lego Imagination Centre and an impressive Virgin Megastore.
