Self-catering in Spain is a super saver

Families looking to get the most from their holiday budget should consider self-catering in Spain; a supermarket basket comparison has found costs much lower than at some other European holiday destinations.
The Post Office Travel Money survey saw 3 Spanish holiday spots in the top 4 positions for least expensive, while Crete, Corfu and Cyprus came bottom of 12 with the Limassol basket for basic items costing almost double that for first placed Mallorca (£57.67).
Brighton in the UK was number eight with a receipt of £89.08, while Portugal’s Algarve came second (£57.78).
For UK holidaymakers already heading to European hotspots there’s a further bit of good news, the Pound is purchasing more Euros compared to last year so spending money will go further!
If you are fed up with the UK weather, but need to keep costs under control, then a great value self-catering apartment in Spain could mean you don’t have to forego a holiday. At Marina del Sol, a resort on a beach-facing site just outside the lively seaside town of Fuengirola on Spain’s Costa del Sol, you can also enjoy a 15% discount when you book 10 nights or more.
While the Costa del Sol was not in the Post Office survey, prices here are very competitive and as well as lots of supermarket choices inexpensive fresh food items can be bought at many of the colourful markets up and down the coast. With plenty of free activities on the resort to keep all ages entertained, your holiday could cost you far less than you imagine.
