Party Time on the Costa del Sol
<<< Back to blogs
Spain is one of the greatest places in the world to party. The number and variety of festivals is legendary but there is one, arguably the biggest and most spectacular, which remains relatively unknown to visitors. This is despite the fact it is held in one of the most popular holiday destinations at the height of the season.
The Feria de Malaga on Spain’s famous Costa del Sol takes place every August to commemorate Malaga’s return to Catholic Spain from the Moorish invaders. Malaga is dressed up and decorated for the occasion and thousands of Spaniards, many in traditional costume, descend on the city to enjoy up to 10 days of partying with fireworks, parades, flamenco dancing, fairground rides and 100’s of tents and open air booths serving drinks and traditional Andalucian dishes. The fair has two centres. During the day the action takes place in the city centre and in the night it moves to the outskirts starting at about 9.00pm and continuing until dawn. The Feria de Malaga 2012 runs from August 11 to August 19.
The Marina del Sol resort provides an ideal base from which to visit the Festival and also enjoy the many other attractions on the Costa del Sol. It provides excellent value high standard accommodation within one of the largest private estates on the coast. The self contained, secure community features a huge range of activities and facilities including swimming pools, kids club, games room, tennis courts and mini-supermarket together with a great choice of restaurants and bars.
