Happy birthday Nuwa, the baby of the Bioparc!
<<< Back to blogsThe squirrels jumped from one branch to another telling everybody, the chimpanzees spread the good news to their cousins, the gorillas. The tiger wanted to be first but the flying fox was faster to congratulate the little Sri-Lankan leopard Nuwa, who celebrated her first birthday on August 2nd.
Keepers at Fuengirola’s fantastic Bioparc celebrated Nuwa’s first year by presenting her with a cake made of ice and meat, complete with a big number one on top. The rest of the animals were hoping to join the party but Nuwa and her mum were faster and in just a few minutes they proved to the keepers how much they loved the cake by devouring the lot! The hungry lemur left the party a little bit upset to miss out! This was an important day in the history of the Bioparc. The Sri-Lankan leopard is a threatened and endangered species and the Bioparc is playing its part in protecting them as part of its important remit. So Nuwa’s birthday was a big landmark.
The Bioparc hosts more than 80 species, including birds, mammals and reptiles in three different habitats (Madagascar, Equatorial Africa and South East Asia). It’s an animal universe created for the investigation, preservation and breeding of various species as well as providing a fantastic opportunity for visitors young and old to see animals and birds living in environments that resemble their natural habitats.
The Bioparc is just a few minutes drive from Club La Costa World’s Marina del Sol resort, the perfect location for your holiday.
