Casting off the winter woollies on the Costa<<< Back to blogs
Escaping the chilly UK winter weather is top of the agenda for long-time CLC World member Michael Saker and his wife Bryony. So while the UK is shivering the couple are on the Costa del Sol taking in the sunshine and blue skies.
“The wind here has had a nip to it but if you find a sheltered spot it’s still very nice and it’s important to us to get away from the UK winter for a while for health reasons,” said a cheerful Michael as he spoke during his stay at Santa Cruz Suites.
Michael, aged 77, became a CLC member more than 20 years ago with his first wife Moira. They visited Marina del Sol on a promotion, owned a week before switching to Vacation Club and enjoyed many memorable holidays.
After Michael was widowed he and old family friend Bryony (65) got together five years ago and have continued to make the most of their membership. The couple tied the knot at Leeds Castle in Kent in October 2012 and celebrated their honeymoon on a three-week cruise to the Caribbean booked through, of course, CLC.
Michael’s elder son teaches English in Madrid so the couple’s regular trips to Spain provide a great opportunity for a family get-together. And for five months Michael’s younger son was based at Malaga University as part of his language degree-level studies – handily placed for visiting the resort.
Michael and Bryony are now fractional owners and love coming to stay at Santa Cruz. “It’s very relaxing and the gardens are beautifully kept and we do like the outdoor Jacuzzi!” said Bryony.
The couple have also enjoyed city breaks, including Paris, through CLC, and have at times shared their holiday experiences with friends and family as their guests. “We have enjoyed some lovely holidays and when we chat to people on the resort we are always happy to tell them just how good it is,” said Michael. Here at CLC World we wish Michael and Bryony many more great holidays to come.
