Situated just 7 miles from East Midlands airport, Canaltime operates a large fleet of its famous narrow boats from the popular Sawley Marina, recognised as probably the UK’s largest inland waterway marina.
With the canal map supplied, you can confidently cruise the Trent and Mersey Canal and other local waterways, peacefully passing bridges, locks, pubs and villages, enjoying life from a completely new perspective! Alternatively, you could simply spend some or all of your time moored in the marina.
Sawley Marina is only 6 miles from Nottingham, famous for its legendary hero, Robin Hood, world-class lacemaking and, nowadays, a thriving antique trade. Just 18 miles away is the Peak District National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty, with its quaint ‘capital’, Bakewell.
With the canal map supplied, you can confidently cruise the Trent and Mersey Canal.
Leicester’s 2,000-year heritage and Lincoln’s magnificent cathedral are two more examples of the wealth of history waiting to be discovered in an area with an abundance of stately homes, country parks, museums, galleries, adventure parks and other attractions all within an easy drive of the marina.
NB: for health and safety reasons, at least one member of each party must have a good knowledge of English, otherwise the marina may not allow the party to cruise. 1 bed narrowboats require a minimum of two able-bodied adults to cruise, and 2 bed narrowboats require a minimum of three. Canaltime reserves the right to restrict cruising subject to the prevailing conditions, which influence the health and safety of guests.
