Fun walk in the sun raises charity cash
CLC World members Jennie and Paul Hunt took advantage of some perfect April walking weather in Turkey to organise a charity walk while holidaying at Apollonium to raise funds for leukaemia and lymphoma research.
It’s a cause dear to their hearts as the couple, who are freehold owners at the resort, lost a friend to the disease and they were thrilled with the turn-out in support of their fund-raising endeavours. CLC World donated a holiday voucher, and staff on resort gave a helping hand with the organisation of the walk, and a St George’s Day quiz night.
There was excellent support from CLC World owners and guests and some walked or jogged the one mile course up to four times for the fun of it. Everyone got the chance to breast the finishing tape, reinstated to celebrate each person crossing the line, before swinging right and heading to the bar for a cooling drink!
The holiday voucher was top prize at the quiz night and won by Daniel Webb, son of Apollonium owners Mike and Audrey Webb, and the family kindly put it up for blind auction. The voucher, for accommodation in Spain, Turkey or the UK, raised £300, in addition to 1,168 Turkish Lira already raised by the two events. The winners of the blind auction were Roger and Julia Baker (property owners at Apollonium) and their prize was presented by Cenk Turanli (director, Turkish operations).
Mert Doruk (Apollonium general manager) said: “It was a great way to raise money for a very worthwhile charity and we were delighted to help out with organising the events. Everyone enjoyed themselves.”
