Singer-impressionist Joe happens upon Monterey
CLC World resort Monterey in Tenerife hosted singer-impressionist Joe Longthorne for a second visit and he’ll be returning again later in the year, when he is scheduled to make further live performances at the island’s close by cabaret venue Showtime.
Joe, who received an MBE in 2012, started out on the showbiz ladder as a teenager appearing on TV’s Junior Showtime and shot to fame in 1981 on LWT’s Search for a Star. Appearances at the London Palladium and his own TV show followed, as well as worldwide performances.
Despite gruelling illness, which led to a bone marrow transplant in 2006, he has made a remarkable recovery and has been touring extensively in recent years and working to help many charities.
Joe told Tony Abello, resort manager at CLC World resort Monterey, “This is one of the finest resorts on offer, one of the best I have ever holidayed in. The service and facilities are faultless.
“ I look forward to visiting for many years to come and in particular to working closely with CLC’s Smile Foundation charity, the aims and purpose of which are fundamental and straightforward – to help needy people however and wherever possible and hopefully to put a smile on their faces.
“It’s a great cause and one I hope I can help with in my own way.”
