Teide National Park declared a national park in 1954, it includes an enormous volcanic crater 48 km in circumference, out of which rises Mount Teide. The park is 2000 metres above sea level with access to the summit of the now extinct volcano (the last eruption was in 1909) either by foot or cable car. On a clear day, the panorama is breathtaking, with stunning views of Gran Canaria, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro.
