Once considered just a winter sun destination, the Canaries’ most popular island is fast becoming the location of choice for its champagne lifestyle and beer priced-properties.

Just minutes from the bustle of Tenerife’s south coast, would-be homeowners and a new millionaire jet set seem to have found their perfect place in the sun.

Famous for its spectacular scenery, beaches and a temperamental volcano, Tenerife has always appealed to families looking for value holidays, but the island’s perfect year-round temperatures and 4 hour flying time from the UK is now tempting a different type of visitor. Brits dreaming of escaping the British weather can’t seem to get enough of the island that has something for everyone.

While other property markets have “”come and gone””, Tenerife’s has remained steady and solid over the years. In fact many would-be homeowners keen for a slice of the good life are surprised by its home prices, which are some 30 per cent lower than in other parts of Spain.

The icing on the cake – or rather on the top of the hill – is a palatial home that has just been listed for £4.1m, which local estate agents believe is a record-breaking price tag for the island.

Finding somewhere to moor your yacht isn’t a problem for the millionaire set either. Stroll down to the marina at Puerto Colon, where yachts of all sizes from small to huge – like Russian dolls – bask in the midday sun, and it’s easy to see why Tenerife is the island of choice for sunseekers looking for a well-priced investment that’s easy to get to.

Even celebrities are crossing the Atlantic to sample some of the lifestyle that the Canaries have to offer. Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez and other half Marc Anthony have stayed at a new five star hotel with luxury garden villas and spa while one area along the famous Costa Adeje – Fañabe Beach – has already been dubbed “”The Mayfair of Tenerife.””

Analysts believe Tenerife is under priced compared to the rest of Spain, and will continue to attract homeowners planning their long term future.
